The 180 TC Sydney to the Hunter

Thursday 9th September saw the start of the 2nd Annual “Sydney to the Hunter” Cycling Classic supporting ONE80TC. For Nine years prior, ONE80TC has participated in an annual cycling challenge called “Tour de Freedom”, this event has been held all over Australia and has covered nearly 10000 Km collectively. As of 2009 the event was renamed the “Sydney to the Hunter” Cycling Classic and covers 350 km from Rouse Hill to the Hunter Valley. The Sydney to Hunter cycling classic is a five star event designed to raise awareness of ONE80TC and what we do to help men break the cycle of addictive behaviour. Rescuing Men, Restoring Lives, Rebuilding Family is fundamentally what we do on a daily basis.

This is the 2nd consecutive year this cycling classic has taken this route from Sydney to the Hunter valley, and will now be an annual event each September. The Sydney to the Hunter Classic is available to anyone who enjoys cycling, whether they are a beginner or are ready to take on Lance Armstrong in the Tour Down Under.

Day 1: The Sydney to the Hunter started at 9.30am on a beautiful morning at Rouse Hill town centre in the North West of Sydney.  The cyclists headed down the main street of Rouse Hill led by the Bicycling Australia, Toyota RAV 4. Many thanks to the team at Bicycling Australia and Toyota for the use of this fantastic vehicle for the duration of the event.  The peloton travelled through Glenhaven, Berowra Waters, Brooklyn and Mooney Mooney, into the Entrance for the first nights’ accommodation at the Magenta Shores Resort.

Day 2: Saw the riders head through Toukley, Freemans waterhole and the Historic town of Neath into the Hunter Valley for the 2nd nights’ accommodation at the Crowne Plaza.  The riders were then commuted to Majors Lane restaurant for a fantastic 3 course meal overlooking the Majors’ Lane vineyard.

Day 3: Saw the Sydney to the Hunter Cyclists joined by the largest local Riding team called the “Singleton Soft Cogs” led by Captain Kimbo. The Soft-Cogs led the Sydney to the Hunter cyclists through the picturesque regions of Branxton, Elderslie, Glendon and Broke, finishing back at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley with a Gala Dinner and Auction fundraiser.
